[And just like that, the message appears on his phone. They did already come to the conclusion that they were in each others' contacts, but the absolute confirmation that these phones work and link together like that is surprising.]
Uwa, it worked! Nice going, Io!
[It's completely unnecessary, but perhaps as a force of habit, he sends one back.]
works just fine!
[And as he closes it up again, he rests his chin against his hand, leaning on his desk while he looks around the room.]
Think those other numbers belong to the other students? There were a lot of them.
[ Io's happy for the compliment, but he doesn't smile - this whole situation is just so bizarre. He follows Ryuu's gaze around the room, settling on each other student in turn.]
"Probably. Why don't you send a mass text, and find out?"
[Normally he'd add a warning about how expensive that might turn out to be on an unknown phone plan, but he's distracted. There were hundreds of unknown numbers in the contact list. How could anyone run an operation of that magnitude? Io hesitates, and then says:]
"Do you think some of the other students might have been kidnapped, too?"
Oh, a mass text. That's a good idea, too. [He starts playing around on the phone some more, both of his thumbs rapidly clicking about as he tries to familiarize himself with its workings.] I wonder if there's an easy way to do that on this phone...
[It takes him a few to figure it out, but he's finally got it ready to go. Taking Io's latter question into mind, he starts typing.]
Then, I'll ask that. "Are you a student here? Y/N. Have you been kidnapped? Y/N." Sound good?
"That sounds perfect." [ Io smiles. Ryuu always has been better at talking to people, and the message is straightforward enough that nobody would think it suspicious.]
"You aren't being charged for these texts, right?" [ There must be at least a hundred names in that contact list. Not that Io has any way of reimbursing Ryuu until they get home.]
ah yes!! I always forget about this method too though
